WHY ATTEND

OOH INDABA 2026: SHAPING THE FUTURE OF SOUTH AFRICA'S OUT-OF-HOME INDUSTRY

Out of Home Media South Africa (OHMSA) and the Black Billboard Owners Alliance (BBOA) are proud to announce the OOH Indaba 2026, taking place on 29 October 2026 at Thaba Eco Hotel in Johannesburg.

The OOH Indaba will bring together media owners, municipalities, government, agencies, advertisers, funders and industry partners for a focused day of discussion on the most pressing issues shaping the future of South Africa’s out-of-home advertising sector.

The programme will focus on four key areas facing the industry: regulation and permitting, enforcement and illegal inventory, transformation and meaningful participation, and innovation and growth.

Discussions will include:

  • the state of OOH regulation in South Africa;
  • permitting delays and the need for predictable approval timelines;
  • illegal inventory, enforcement and consistent application of municipal by-laws;
  • the state of transformation and what meaningful transformation should look like across the OOH value chain;
  • artificial intelligence, data, digital OOH and the future of outdoor advertising;
  • international and African OOH case studies;
  • funding challenges facing emerging operators and SMMEs; and
  • concrete commitments by industry, government and partners on the way forward.

The Indaba is intended to move beyond identifying the challenges facing the sector. The day will conclude with a focused commitment session and the development of an OOH Indaba Declaration, aimed at identifying practical actions, responsible stakeholders and areas for continued collaboration.

The formal programme will be followed by an evening networking cocktail reception, creating further opportunities for engagement between stakeholders across the OOH ecosystem.
